NMMU Business School launches “Strategic Conversations” as Part of New Executive Education Drive

Port Elizabeth, 17 August 2011 - As part of its mission of making a critical and constructive contribution to regional, national and global sustainability, NMMU Business School today announced and launched “Strategic Conversations” as part of its Executive Education portfolio housed in the Graduate School.

Strategic Conversations is a planned series of public events and debates hosted and facilitated by the NMMU Business School around critical and topical issues affecting business, ecology and economy for senior organisational leaders and executives,” said Professor Paul Poisat, acting director of the Graduate School, project leader and concept developer of Strategic Conversations.

“We plan to stimulate critical thought and intellectual debate amongst leaders, empowering them with knowledge, alternative views and insight to ensure they take informed decisions with regards to current issues that will affect their organisational performance on a strategic level.  The format will comprise interaction between select experts, a facilitator and guests.”

NMMU Business School Head of Marketing & Stakeholder Relations JP Roodt says the premiere and launch of the initiative is:   “Strategic Conversations:  China’s African Strategy”, which will take place this afternoon at the NMMU Business School with presenter Professor Kobus Jonker, acting director of the NMMU Business School.

“Prof Jonker presented this research project at the International Trend Forum in Germany earlier this year.    The event has attracted a very high profile guest audience with representatives and leaders from multi-national organisations in the Nelson Mandela Bay.  We have even had requests from guests to be included for future Strategic Conversations events, which signal that the Graduate School’s initiative is resonating superbly with the market and responding to a specific need for high-octane intellectual engagement.”

NMMU Business School plans to host another Strategic Conversations installment in October around Fracking (Hydraulic Fracturing) in the Karoo in October.
